Welcome to "The Monday Mention", a weekly feature where I highlight several local businesses in a Dallas/Fort Worth neighborhood or shopping center. There are tons of great restaurants, coffee spots and businesses around the metroplex, so I'll spend some time each week visiting these neighborhoods, interviewing managers and business owners and sharing my favorite experiences in the form of "mentions".
My latest Monday Mention takes us back to Greenville Avenue, specifically near "Lower" Greenville. Greenville Avenue has so many restaurants, bars and shops, and is long enough to have different neighborhoods and even names (Lower and Lowest Greenville), so this week, I've focused on 3 spots towards the middle of Greenville Avenue north of Mockingbird. Many consider this "Lower Greenville". Next week, I'll focus on "Lowest" Greenville! The three spots I've decided include in my Monday Mention are Goodwins, Terilli's and Halcyon. Enjoy!!
#1 Goodwins
Goodwins is fairly new restaurant to the Dallas scene, but it's already making waves for offering both incredible food and great customer service. I've eaten at Goodwins several times, and it's one of my new favorite spots to eat at for both lunch and dinner! My favorite menu items are the Crispy Zucchini Chips and the Med Quinoa Salad. The salad is amazing, and includes watercress, frisbee, feta, tomato, cucumber, piquillo peppers, shaved onion and a fine herb vinaigrette. For dinner, I'd recommend their Bone-In Pork Chop or any of their steaks! They are closed on Mondays and are open for lunch from 11 AM - 3 PM, every day. For dinner, they are open on Tuesday through Thursday from 3-10 PM, on Saturdays from 3-11 PM and on Sunday from 3-10 PM. As you are planning for the holidays, keep in mind that Goodwins has a great Thanksgiving menu available for pick-up. Their menu includes appetizers (such as Shrimp Cocktail and a Cheese Ball), meats (such as Classic Roasted Turkey, Tenderloin and Smoked Turkey Breast), sides (such as Classic Brioche Stuffing, Cornbread & Sausage Dressing and Ditalini Mac & Cheese), an assortment of salads, desserts and much more! #2 Terilli's Restaurant & Bar
Terilli's is the type of restaurant you make a reservation for, get dressed up and go out on a date with your spouse. They are known for their Italian-American menu, with great dishes such as Crab Cakes, Chicken Picatta, Spicy Chicken Penne, Terilli's Chicken Parmesan, a Tom Landry Special, Prime Filet Mignon, Surf & Turf, and much more! You can enjoy the ambiance inside or dine outside on their rooftop patio! Their daily Happy Hour is from 4-6 PM, and includes $9 glasses of Wine, $7 Mule's, a $7 House Martini and an assortment of Sliders! They also have a brunch menu, which includes Steak & Eggs, a Mediterranean Avocado Toast, Crab Cakes Benedict, Brunch Burgers, Belgian Waffles, Creme Brûlée French Toast and much more!! They are closed on Mondays and open from 4-10 PM on Tuesdays through Thursdays, 4-11 PM on Friday and Saturday and open from 11 AM - 10 PM on Sunday.
#3 Halcyon Coffee+Bar+Lounge
Halcyon has it all! You can start your day with coffee or tea and lounge with other patrons to read, relax or work. I've met a lot of clients at Halcyon! They have great drink options, such as Smoothies, Hot Chocolate, Lattes, Coffee and Coffee Cocktails! After work, come back for Happy Hour from 3-7PM every day! You can get $2 off Wine, Mimosas and their Coffee Cocktails and enjoy $5 Beer and $7 Cocktails. They also serve HH bites from 3-7 PM only on Mondays - Fridays. On the weekends, they have a Brunch menu, and it's available from when they open to 3 PM. You can enjoy their Breakfast Burrito, a variety of "Skillets", Elvis French Toast, Chicken & Waffles, and much more! On top of all that, they have Movie Nights every Friday at 8:30 PM and you can get half-price wine bottles + free S'mores for 2. They also have Trivia on Saturday nights at 8:30 and 9:30 PM. On Saturday November 22nd, you can also visit Halcyon to experience the Halcyon Hunnies Drag Show from 4-6 PM (ish)!! You have to book a reservation, so click visit their website for more info!!
