3720 Autumn Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76109
In just Fort Worth alone, there are a little over 3,400 homes for sale. Out of those 3,400 properties, there are less than a handful of homes that present a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own an architectural masterpiece. Out of that handful of homes, you can only count 1 that is as interesting and unique as 3720 Autum Drive. I’ve been wanting to tour this home in person for a long time and finally got the chance last week!
Calling this house a home doesn’t do it justice. It’s more like a work of art with a front and back yard and a pool. 3720 Autumn was created by renowned Fort Worth architect Larry Morton Gernsbacher, who was a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West. From the moment you walk through the front door, the house comes to life and starts to tell its story. This mid-century modern masterpiece embodies geometric elegance, organic harmony and timeless sophistication. The center of the home is the super-unique living room, which is a hexagon shaped space with a grand fireplace with the stone encasement that matches the stone around the columns that line the exterior of the hexagonal living room. I caught myself just standing there in awe, taking in every angle, window, detail and space that the house had to offer. There is custom stonework throughout, an abundance of built-in furnishings, and a multi-level combination of living and entertaining spaces that seem flexible enough for a buyer to have options.
The home has 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and almost 6,400 square feet. There is an incredible chef’s kitchen, which the listing agent describes as “a work of art in itself”. The kitchen features sleek custom cabinetry, an oversized refrigerator with wood paneling to match the cabinetry, a gas range and floor to ceiling windows and sliding glass doors looking out to the backyard. This description and the photos online don’t do it justice, so if you get the chance to see this house in person, take it! On the main level, there’s a hidden wet bar, tons of formal and informal dining and living spaces, a private living space which could act as an office or a media room and a really cool space right outside two bedrooms which could act as a private living room for guests or a kid’s media and playroom. Those two bedrooms that are right by that space share a bathroom too! The primary suite is upstairs, with a really unique living space right off the main door that overlooks the entire downstairs living area and balconies that overlook the backyard and pool.
One of the highlights of the property and my tour were the backyard and the pool. The backyard feels very private, with mature trees that line the back of the property. The pool matches the home and feels very mid-century modern with its shape and character. There is a firepit area with tons of spaces to sit and large patios that wrap around the house that are perfect for large family gatherings or entertaining! It’s one of the most unique and special patios I’ve seen in a long time!
A huge thank you to Rick Fruge, who is the listing agent for this unique and one-of-a-kind property!
